Clermont Harbor

Thursday, 17 July 2008 07:36 by Kurt

Here's what's left of Pepere's house on Forest Street in Clermont Harbor, MS. The current owner's brother is living ('camping out') on the property. His name is Paul from Canada who says the place had reminded him of his grandmother's before Hurricane Katrina. He's been collecting storm debris to decorate the place (building a shrine / Katrina junk museum). He welcomes visitors and cameras and was very interested in hearing about the family history on the property.

Gulf Coast Lots for Sale

Thursday, 10 July 2008 14:29 by Kurt

This is typical of what the Bay St. Louis Mississippi back-bay looks like. Plenty of vacant lots for sale and plenty of new construction. This is from our trip in June '08.

No Trespassing

Monday, 7 July 2008 22:16 by Kurt

This photo was taken while on our trip to the Mississippi Gulf Coast -- this late day thunderstorm was blowing toward us, lightning and all. Here is the calm before the storm juxtaposed against the damaged piers from Katrina and others.

Camera settings and post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D and the Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens at 17mm, ISO 200, f/16, 1/100s. Lightroom curves adjustment, color balancing.

Thanks for visiting!

Heathrow Country Club

Tuesday, 10 June 2008 14:45 by Kurt

There is a golf course just behind the office building where I work. Too bad I don't play. It makes for a nice walk though - at least in the winter months when it's not sweltering hot like today. The heat and humidity will melt you if you're not prepared - especially dressed for work!

My office building in Heathrow, FL and the pond. They call these "lakes."

Wekiva River Trip

Saturday, 8 December 2007 15:35 by Kurt

We took a "jungle cruise" on the Wekiva River back on October 20th. From Wekiva Falls Resort, an old and mostly deserted place in the back woods on the edge of town, we explored the river on the 45-passenger Wekiva Queen II - it was just us and the guide (lady) on the pontoon boat. It was quiet, peaceful, and the girls really enjoyed it!
